Betting on Survival in Black Jacket | 8 Hours Deep and Still Locked In

Every once in a while, a game sneaks up on you.
You boot it up expecting to mess around for an hour or two, and suddenly it’s eight hours later and you’re still saying, “Alright… one more run.” That was pretty much my experience with Black Jacket.
At first glance, the concept alone pulled me in. A blackjack-inspired rogue-lite deckbuilder where you literally gamble your way out of hell? Yeah, I was immediately curious.
For anyone unfamiliar, Black Jacket throws you into a dark, stylized underworld where cards are your lifeline. You’ll build powerful card combinations, bend the rules when needed, and even cheat your way through dangerous encounters as you try to earn freedom from hell itself. Soul coins become currency, every decision matters, and every opponent standing in your way has a story worth uncovering.
Developed by Mi’pu’mi Games GmbH and published by Skystone Games, the game blends roguelite progression with deckbuilding strategy in a way that feels fresh without overcomplicating things.
What surprised me most during my first stream was how easy it was to get hooked into the gameplay loop.
I sat down expecting to test it out and ended up playing for a full eight-hour stream without getting bored. That says a lot.
The blackjack-inspired mechanics are simple enough to understand quickly, but there’s enough strategy layered underneath to keep things interesting. You’re constantly weighing risks, deciding when to push your luck, when to hold back, and when it’s worth bending the rules to survive.
That balance seems to work really well for me.

One of the standout things for me was the character progression through the opponents. This isn’t just random card battles stacked on top of each other. As you continue through runs, the game slowly develops the personalities and stories behind the people standing in your way. It gave every encounter more meaning and made me want to keep progressing just to see what came next.
That progression system kept me engaged more than I expected.
I’m also a big fan of games that build toward meaningful “boss fight” moments, and Black Jacket nails that sense of momentum. Every victory feels like it’s building toward something bigger instead of feeling repetitive. There’s an actual sense of progression that keeps the gameplay from becoming stale, even after hours of sitting at the table.

The atmosphere deserves a mention too. The darker aesthetic mixed with the underworld setting creates this weirdly addictive vibe where every match feels tense without becoming overly stressful. It hits that sweet spot between strategy game and “just one more round” energy.
If you’re into roguelites, card games, or anything that rewards strategy without demanding a spreadsheet to understand it, Black Jacket is definitely worth checking out.
Especially if you enjoy games that slowly pull you into their world over time.
